This volume is a contribution to the knowledge of Ibsens importance as a playwright today. It contains most of the papers that were presented during the symposium "Ibsen in the Theatre" which took place on 13-15 October, 2005 at Stockholm university. To the academic papers have been added the visions of two of the most important Ibsen directors in contemporary Scandinavian theatre: Hilda Hellwig and Terje Mærli.
