Visby World Heritage

Few places provide such a condensed experience of a big medievel town. Nine hundred years of architectural history using local materials such as limestone, mortar, wood and tar are described here by Marita Jonsson, illustrated with photographs taken in winter and early spring. Visby was found worthy of inclusion on UNESCO's list of World Heritage sites.
