The Adventures of Tintin and Snowy first appeared in 1929. Over the course of the following decades the series - published in Le Petit Vingtième (the children's supplement to the Brussels newspaper Le Vingtième Siècle) – became more and more successful, in Belgium and internationally. From the 1940s Tintin's creator Hergé launched merchandise projects based on illustrations of his star character from the different stories. Postcards, puzzles, educational cards, calendars and colouring books were created.

Mindful of the quality of his work and of its reproduction, Hergé made sure he was involved personally in the creation of these different commercial products, which were also aimed at introducing fans of all ages to the beautiful books in the Tintin series. From Tintin in America to King Ottokar's Sceptre, via The Blue Lotus and The Crab with the Golden Claws, children and their parents were invited to admire, redraw and colour scenes from the brave reporter's adventures, inspired by the corresponding illustrations in the albums.

This colouring book has been created in the same spirit as those original publications. It pays tribute to the pioneer of comic strips in Europe, Hergé, and to his distinctive and magical artwork.
